Urgent appointments
If you need to see a GP urgently, we’ll make sure you get the right care as quickly as possible.
All urgent requests are reviewed by a GP and prioritised based on medical need.
Available Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm

- Ask a member of your family, friends or carer to submit the form on your behalf
- By phone: Call our reception team on 01727 851 589. Our staff will take the information from you, fill an online form out on your behalf and pass it on to a GP.
- In person: Visit the surgery during our opening hours (8am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday) and we’ll help you complete the form at reception.

For non-urgent issues, you can still contact us online, a GP will review your request and arrange the right next step for you.

Sickness certificates (fit notes)
You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Request test results
You usually don't need to book an appointment to get your test results.
Home visits
Care home and home visits are available for those with enhanced needs. The care home and home visit team includes dedicated community illness and frailty nurses, as well as healthcare assistants and clinical pharmacists, and enables proactive regular visits to local nursing homes, including housebound older people, to ensure continuity of care.
Change or cancel an appointment
Please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer your appointment to someone else.
To cancel your appointment:
- Follow the link in your appointment reminder text message (not all appointments receive a reminder message)
- Cancel via your NHS App
- Telephone us on 01727 851 589 and select option 1 for our cancellation line to cancel or change an appointment.
Out of hours
Enhanced access
Parkbury House Surgery offers extended hours on some Saturday mornings, available with pre-arranged appointments only. There are only a limited number of these appointments available.
There are some out of hours telephone appointments available throughout the week.
Life threatening
Call 999 or go to A&E now if:
- you or someone you know needs immediate help
- you have seriously harmed yourself – for example, by taking a drug overdose
A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency.
Urgent but not life threatening
Visit an urgent care centre if:
- You have an urgent medical issue requiring on the day attention
Non-urgent
Use NHS 111 if:
- You need help now, but it’s not an emergency
There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.
